FAQs

Is there an entry fee and if so, how much?
We require a small, non-refundable entrance fee to reserve an apartment.

What does the monthly fee include?
One daily meal, house cleaning, utilities, wall-to-wall carpet, mini blinds, refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, microwave, garbage disposal, washer/dryer in each apartment, 24-hour emergency response system, maintenance, transportation, and a wide selection of activities, including cultural, social, and wellness programs.

Is there a garage where I can park my car?
Yes, garages are available at a nominal fee.

Will I have to move if my health care needs change over time?
Residents of the independent living communities may take advantage of Unity’s home care services. If higher levels of care are needed, we offer enriched living at the Hamlet, as well as three skilled nursing homes.

What types of security systems are in place to ensure my safety?
Our state-of-the-art system includes around-the-clock security, fire alarm, sprinkler system, and 24-hour emergency response system in each apartment home. Your safety and security are enhanced by our proximity to one of Rochester's leading hospitals. The Villages are located on Unity's Park Ridge Health Care Campus, providing a full emergency center, with complete diagnostic facilities, as well as a surgical center, a doctors’ office building, and a pharmacy.

What sorts of activities are provided/scheduled?
Our dedicated resident services manager focuses on plans and posts an exciting and diverse activities calendar each month. Our range of activities includes gardening, computer classes, dinner and theater outings, wine tasting parties, and even in-house concerts. Our responsive staff is always eager to find new activities to add to our current roster of events. We're always open to new ideas.

What is included in the apartment? Is there ample closet and storage space?
Each apartment is fully-equipped with kitchen appliances, washer and dryer, and carpeting. Apartments feature generous closet space and additional storage space outside the apartment.

How often is my apartment cleaned?
House cleaning is done weekly.

How many meals are included in the monthly fee? Is it a sit-down dinner or buffet?
The monthly fee includes one meal per day for residents of The Village and Woodland Village. Three meals each day are served at the Hamlet. Our first-class chefs prepare your meals, and our friendly, well-trained staff serves you a sit-down meal in the dining room or private dining room. Lunch is available at the Village and Woodland Village for an additional charge.

What's the advantage of living at a retirement community operated by a health system?
As part of Unity Health System's community, you have access to a complete network of health care services if you should ever need them, including home care, care coordination, social and medical adult day care, physicians specializing in geriatrics, and skilled nursing facilities.

Are pets allowed?
Small dogs and cats are welcome.

Are utilities included?
Yes, all utilities are included. Residents pay for their own phones. Cable TV is available at a reduced rate.
